I am proud to say that I am contributing to the efforts to beat the HIV stigma that unfortunately people still face to this day. I also want to pay my respects to those who we have lost over the years, and I want to pay tribute to those who are recently diagnosed. My mission is simple - use my voice and time to help those who need us the most. 2030 is the aim, and we can’t be silent until we reach the goal. Use your voice, give love to those who need it, rise above the stigma.

All my fellow people living with HIV

Diagnosed in 2006 and living today with 1 pill a day and undetectable and healthy. So sad for all those we lost pre 90s when meds were not so good. HIV treatment as come a long way since then but still we face huge stigma and have to keep a secret from so many and cant say it loud and proud. Hopefully in time that day will come although prob not in my life time. To all people reading never be afraid to get tested and play safe if having multiple partners. Thanks to medicine we have prep

Those who went before.

Coming out at 17 in the year 1985, being gay, felt like a death sentence. It was for many. Those decades of persecution and prejudice took its toll both emotionally and psychologically. Acting 'straight', as to get ahead in my chosen professional world. HIV eventually caught up with me later in life, in a time of anti-virals. So, I had escaped those tombstones and icebergs, but more importantly I escaped the self-imposed straight-jacket to my life. I honour those who went before. Must remember.

In Memory of a Dear & Special Friend, Clint Walters, it meant so much to support your great works, with young people and awareness of HIV. Our daily calls, brought so much encouragement to both of us, especially all the hard work you put in, but sadly, your light went out far too young, I miss You so much and always will! You have gone very far, but still, you live in hearts. Abdul Aziz was a loving father to three children, a devoted husband to a wife battling Hepatitis C, and a caring son to his aging, paralyzed mother. Abdul Aziz was the backbone of his family, the pillar on which their hopes and dreams rested. Life had never been easy for Abdul Aziz. The burden of supporting the family fell more heavily on his shoulders as he grappled with his own health issues. He went away leaving hundreds friends weeping.

I was diagnosed Thursday 19th November 1987 My partner at the time did not inform me he was positive Unfortunately he passed in 1991 I went on to meet my long term partner Who Unfortunately passed 22 years ago due to HIV. We got married in Denmark on Christmas eve. We were together 9 wonderful years. Never met anyone that comes close to Paul I'm now classed as a long term survivor! Does not feel like it Trying to meet someone new disclosing my status is horrendous 😫

What a cruel deal you had with no schooling due to haemophilia.But you were resilient and studied to get to Oxford where you thrived and became a brilliant Civil Servant when we met and became close friends. Receiving contaminated blood in the 1980s meant that you suffered terribly as HIV moved to AIDS. You stayed strong and positively took part in early combination therapy trials. Sadly treatments were too little too late. You were so brave and deserved better things.We miss you .B&P🙏❤️‍🩹🙏

I have lived my life paralysed in fear of coming out - I remember those adverts on tv during the 80’s and section 28 too - dark times - so different now esp with PREP and positive attitudes for gay men like myself - I stayed hidden through fear and I could have been a part of this loss maybe as it’s my generation but sadly many beautiful lives lived before the horrible disease became known - so cruel yet many helped to pioneer a better future for others - I came out a couple of years ago

My heart breaks for all those who passed through this dreadful virus before treatment was found including a handful of friends that will never be forgotten. I never thought it would get me but now 19 years since being diagnosed I am so lucky to have been saved by the treatment and by those strong humans who went through the trials . My only regret is I hid it for 17 years suffering alone until I couldn’t handle it no more and told my family and friends and I now ask why did I hide? Love to all x

It was a heartbreaking yet wonderful 10 years working on Ward 4, Fairfield Hospital in Melbourne Victoria. Those living and dying with AIDS from 1985 to 1996 stay in my heart, it was a pleasure to look after you all and you will never be forgotten. I have a copy of the ward Remembrance book and I look at it and recite your names so that I remember you all, taken so young and so bravely.
